  • The open dial just keeps turning, what do I do?
The design of our key lock boxes means it does allow the open dial to turn, even without inputting a code. However, if it turns without unlocking after you have entered your code, it means that your code is incorrect. A clutch mechanism prevents the handle from being forced open. Have a think about: How long has it been since you have used the lock box? Is it possible someone may have changed the code in the meantime?
  • How to set my code?
Let’s get you the help you require. If you click on the link below this will show you a helpful video on how to set your code.
  • I have the code, but cannot open my key lock box
Entering the correct key safe code is the only means of accessing the keys inside. Let’s see if we can get to the bottom of this for you by trying the following steps: Press the ‘Clear’ button down and release it (this is in the middle of the numbered buttons) Next, enter your code, ensuring you press the buttons firmly, so you hear or feel a click. Rotate the open dial 180 degrees clockwise This should unlock and open your Key safe. If that hasn’t worked, let’s try again: Turn the knob anti- to the locked position Press the ‘Clear’ button down and release it Enter your code, ensuring you press the buttons firmly, so you hear or feel a click. Turn the knob clockwise and stop when you meet a resistance If the knob is pointing down to the clear button position it means that you have a wrong code If this still hasn’t worked, have a think about: How long has it been since you have used the key lock box? Is it possible someone may have changed the code in the meantime?
  • I have moved into a property and there is a key lock box, but we don’t know the code?
Unfortunately, we don’t hold any codes for the key lock boxes here. As a main supplier, all units leave us un-coded. Additionally, being a security item, they do not have any master/reset code facility. The previous owner/tenants or current neighbours might be aware of any codes for this unit. If the above is not successful, this means you will not be able to make use of this key lock box I’m afraid. The removal of a locked key lock box would need to be performed by someone with cutting equipment (local handyman will be your best bet). Do not attempt to prise the unit from the way as you will cause a damage to the substrate. If you have any questions you can email our friendly team at support@wolflok.com
  • I don’t have the code; how do I remove the key lock box from the wall?
The only way to gain access to the key lock box without a code or a forgotten code will be to contact a local handyman or locksmith. Please do not attempt to forcefully remove the key lock box from the wall as these are secured using self-tapping Standard Security screws (masonry screws) and this will cause damage to your wall substrate. The removal of a locked key lock box would need to be performed by someone with cutting equipment (local handyman will be your best bet).
  • What if my key lock box freezes shut?
Should moisture enter your key safe during extreme weather conditions, it may occasionally freeze shut, stopping you from opening the key safe. Moisture freezes in sub-zero temperatures which is unavoidable so it’s important to keep the moisture out of your key lock box and keeping it dry by using the weather cover. If moisture does get in you will need to wipe the key lock box inside and out using a dry cloth. Should your key lock box fall victim to cold weather, use WD-40 or lock de-icer. Do not use a windscreen de-icer it may damage your key lock box. Don’t worry - it doesn’t damage your key lock box. If you have any questions you can email our friendly team at support@wolflok.com
  • The clear button is stuck, what are my next steps?
The clear button may be stuck for several reasons so we can try a couple of things. Firstly, try and give the open dial a full 360-degree rotation, anti-clockwise. This realigns the clutch mechanism inside and sometimes releases the clear button. If it is still stuck, it may be trapped with brick dust or other elements. Applying some WD40 within and around the clear button to try and clear any debris that may be causing it to stick. If this hasn’t worked, and there have been overnight freezing temperatures, it could be frozen with the mixture of the condensation and temperature drop. If this has happened use WD-40 or lock de-icer. Do not use a windscreen de-icer it may damage your key lock box. Don’t worry - it doesn’t damage your key lock box. If all of the above doesn’t work, your unit may need replacing. If you require any further support, you can email our friendly team at support@wolflok.com.
  • I have forgotten or lost my code, what should I do?
Sorry to hear that you have forgotten your code. Unfortunately, we don’t hold any codes for the key lock boxes neither your local supplier. All units are sold uncoded. Additionally, being a security item, they do not have any master/reset code facility. The code is controlled by those who set it and any other third parties who required knowledge of it (Neighbours, family & friends, doctors etc). To help remember the code, the following points may help: Each number can be used up to 4 times in your code. We advise using 6 numbers with at least one repeating number for the code. You can enter the code in any order.
  • My relative has passed away but hasn’t left the code, what can I do?
Unfortunately, we don’t hold any codes for the key lock boxes neither your local supplier. All units are sold uncoded. Additionally, being a security item, they do not have any master/reset code facility. If your relative was in receipt of care, there is a possibility that the company/local authority/ doctor behind this will have taken note of the code last used in the key lock box. We would advise reaching out to them. You may also wish to check in with neighbours to see if they were made aware of any codes for this unit. If the above is not successful, this means you will not be able to make use of this key lock box. The removal of a locked key lock box would need to be performed by someone with cutting equipment (local handyman or locksmith).
  • How many potential code combinations are there on the key lock box?
Wolflok & Wolflok Pro key lock boxes have over 9.7 million combinations. We recommend using at least 6 digits with a minimum of 1 repeating number in your code. Avoid using memorable codes such as a date of birth or your PIN.
  • How do I set a code in my key lock box?
Both Wolflok & Wolflok Pro come complete with a detailed user guide and a code change tool to help you install your code. There is no need to use any other tools, and you should never use a screwdriver to set your code as it could damage the mechanism. Ensure you keep a note of your code safe. Only give the code to those who are trusted and have your authority to access your property. There is no override or reset code if it is lost or forgotten.
  • Can someone guess my key lock box code?
There are 9.7 millions of code combinations which means guessing your key lock box code would be highly difficult and unlikely. To increase code security, we recommend selecting a combination with a minimum of 6 digits and with at least 1 repeated number. Avoid using common combinations based on birth years or PIN codes.
  • Is there a pre-set code?
For security reasons, your key lock box does not come with a pre-set combination code. You will need to choose and set your own code to lock the key lock box .
  • Is there a key lock box master override or reset code?
There is no override or reset code for a mechanical key lock box. Please make note of your key lock box code and keep it safe as it is the only means to open it. Mechanical devices don’t need any power. Once your key lock box has been coded, you are in complete control over its use and only people you share the code with will be able to access the keys inside. If an override code existed and fell into the wrong hands, your house would be left vulnerable to potential intruders.
  • How do I decide what my key lock box code should be?
We recommend selecting a combination with a minimum of 6 digits and with at least 1 repeated number. Avoid using common combinations based on birth years or PIN codes. When setting your code, you should try to ensure your code is memorable without being obvious. Wolflok and Wolflok Pro has over 9.7 million possible combinations. We recommend making a note of your code just in case you do ever forget it. There is no override or reset code.
  • Can I enter my key lock box code in any order?
Yes, you can. All mechanical push-button devices work in the same way.
  • Is there any additional support for setting the code?
Wolflok and Wolflok Pro key lock boxes come complete with a detailed user guide explaining how to set and change the code. A copy of this guides can be downloaded here.
  • Can I use a screwdriver to set or change my key lock box code?
No. Using a screwdriver to turn the dials when selecting a code combination will cause damage to the mechanism and void the warranty. The dials are designed to turn smoothly. If you experience any resistance when setting or changing the code, stop and consult your user guide or message us on support@wolflok.com. Our Wolflok & Wolflok Pro key lock boxes come with a code changing tool which is located inside the key lock box. For replacement contact your local supplier.
  • How can I prevent my key lock box code from being changed?
Wolflok & Wolflok Pro codes can only be changed by those who have the original code. The code-changing dials on your key lock box are hidden under a cover built inside the box, deterring unauthorized persons from changing the code.
  • How often should I change my key lock box code?
Changing the code often is purely down to personal preference. If you have multiple visitors to your property such as handymen, cleaners, emergency services, it would be good practice to change whenever you feel it necessary. Always make a note of the code for yourself and keep it safe and secure.
  • What if somebody who knows the code is no longer authorized to use the key lock box?
Customers are in complete control over their Wolflok & Wolflok Pro key lock box code. The code can be changed as often as required. Details on how to change your code can be found in the helpful video below. If you have any questions you can email our friendly team at support@wolflok.com.
  • Installation advice
All our key lock boxes can be installed quickly and easily yourself. Fixings are supplied with the key lock box and full installation instructions are provided with each product. You install onto brick, concrete, stone and wood but not within 150mm/ 6 inches of any edge or corner. It should be noted the LPS1175: Issue 8 security approval of the key lock box does not currently include installation onto wood. Please use the template provided with the instructions to mark the holes onto the substrate. Do not use the key lock box as the template. If you have any questions you can email our friendly team at support@wolflok.com.
  • How easy is it to install a key lock box?
Wolflok & Wolflok Pro key lock boxes can be easily installed by a competent DIY’er. • What types of substrate walls can I install my key lock box on?
Wolflok key lock boxes can be installed onto brick, wood, concrete and flat stone surfaces, using Standard Security Screws which come with the product. Wolflok Pro key lock boxes can be installed on brick, concrete, flat stone and rendered walls (render up to 20mm thick), using XL Security Screws & Wall Plugs. To install the Wolflok Pro key lock box onto a wooden substrate use the Standard Security Screws provided.
  • Where should I install my key lock box?
It is a common misconception that a key lock box generally stores a front door key, and therefore must be installed next to the front door. Wolflok and Wolflok Pro do not require a power supply, so can be positioned anywhere. This includes inside meter boxes, or at the rear of the property. Ideally, it should be in a position of easy access to the user.
  • Can the supplied fitting screws be re-used?
Unfortunately, the fitting screws can’t be re-used. The screws supplied with our Wolflok and Wolflok Pro key lock boxes cut their own thread in the substrate on installation. The thread, therefore, would weaken on every install, making the key lock box less secure. If you’d like to move your key lock box, please use Wolflok or Wolflok Pro new fitting screws to ensure maximum adherence to the wall. Please refer back to your local retailer for support.
  • Where can I get replacement screws from?
Please refer back to your local retailer for support.
  • What tools do I need to install a key lock box?
Wolflok and Wolflok Pro key lock boxes come complete with a detailed user guide which explains how to correctly mount them onto a surface. • Why is there a gap between the key lock box lid and the vault? Should there be movement?
There should be a little movement between the key lock box lid and the vault. The small gap is actually part of the key safe design and has been incorporated by our engineers as an anti-prise feature.
  • What are the key lock box covers made from and are they waterproof?
Wolflok and Wolflok Pro key lock boxes weather covers are made from durable plastic that achieves all environmental standards for UV exposure, snow, water and dust, to give your key safe maximum protection and make sure it lasts a very long time. Our weather covers are designed to clip on and off the product for ease of use. As well as being great for shielding the key safe from the elements, they also help to disguise it from passers-by. Whilst not waterproof, they will keep most moisture away from your keys. If you have any questions, you can email our friendly team at support@wolflok.com.
  • Is it true that the code digits can be entered in any order? Does this compromise code security?
It is correct that the number and/or letter combination can be entered in any order. In fact, all mechanical push button key lock boxes from any manufacturer work in the same way. In terms of security, there are still millions of unique code combinations to choose from, regardless of the order the digits or numbers are entered in. As such the probability of someone guessing the code is very low.
